The challenge

Astilleros Canarios S.A. (ASTICAN) is a privately owned ship repair yard. Its main activity is the repair, maintenance and conversion of all types of vessels, structures, marine renewable energy devices and offshore units. Its Syncrolift platform lifts vessels up to 36,000 DWT and serves 7 dry-docking lanes.

Astican wanted to make its customer service department more efficient. It was looking for a new technology to upgrade the department and found it in Wideum’s remote assistance technology.

The solution

ASTICAN REASY is the remote assistance system built on Remote Eye. Customers and service engineers get immediate access to the place where Astican technicians work. Wearing a RealWear headset or smart glasses, technicians record video, take photos and are guided through maintenance operations, with connectivity even in tanks, bilges and engine rooms.

Remote Eye runs on smart glasses, tablets and PCs and shares information between on-site teams and support departments. Astican’s internal organisation has also started to use it for remote training and communication.
