The kilometers are the <strong>one-way<\/strong> distance, exactly as the calculator this page replaces asked for them, and they are not doubled for the way back \u2014 so if your technicians come home, the real footprint is larger than the one on screen and the saving with it.<\/p><p><strong>The formula.<\/strong> One trip emits <strong>kilometers by plane \u00d7 0.101<\/strong> plus <strong>kilometers by car \u00d7 0.108<\/strong> plus <strong>hotel nights \u00d7 40<\/strong>, in kilograms of CO\u2082. That figure is multiplied by the trips per year and by the number of technicians who travel, and shown in tonnes. Nothing is weighted, averaged or corrected afterwards: what you read is that multiplication.<\/p><p><strong>What remote assistance changes.<\/strong> The calculator assumes <strong>25 % of those trips are replaced with a remote video session<\/strong> \u2014 the same assumption as the ROI tab, so three out of four trips still happen. The avoided emissions are that quarter of the total, the kilometers shown are that quarter of the kilometers, and the \u00abtrees\u00bb figure divides the avoided kilograms by <strong>22 kg<\/strong>, the CO\u2082 a mature tree absorbs in a year. Our customers replace between 25 % and 40 % of their trips on average, so 25 % is the cautious end of what we see.<\/p><p><strong>What it does not include.<\/strong> The footprint of the remote session itself is not subtracted, so the avoided figure is a gross saving and not a net one. Neither the manufacture of the vehicles and the glasses, nor the spare parts you ship, nor the emissions of the machine while it waits for a technician are in the calculation.
